Occupying a spectacular site on they Anglesea riverbank, this Multi Purpose building provides an example of a highly sensitive application of ESD principles.
Of utmost importance to client and designer alike was the desire to sensitively integrate the new building with the unique qualities and natural features of the site. This was achieved by adopting a scale, form and palette of materials which blend harmoniously with the coastal land and waterscapes.
The intended use of sustainable sourced, low embodied energy materials, as well as the innovative water saving practices (projected demand is estimated to be 50% of existing facility), engineered timber products and photovoltaic panels will establish the building as one of the regions most significant attempts to incorporate ESD into public toilet facilities.
These elements will provide a facility which visitors will consider highly appropriate for the site and satisfy the quest for more sustainable public facilities.
